On Magickal Theory

All things are made up of energy; right down to sub-atomic particles.  It is everywhere, in everything, and it can be influenced.  This is what for ages has been called magic--or magick, as was Crowley's spelling to separate it from the illusions of lesser craft.

In visualizing the goal and focusing energy towards a specific desire, one can "charge" or "program" the Universal energy in a sense.  The charged energy is thus sent out into the Universe and seeks a way to manifest its program. 

Much of magic works best when aided by action on the physical plan; ie: a spell for success in finding a job is only helpful if you put in at least a few applications or make a few calls, etc.
More transcendental works tend to call for one to strive for Self-mastery in the form of proper eating, exercise, meditation, etc.


Energy, like water, tends to follow the path of least resistance, so the simpler the desire, the more easily it can be attained.  Greater desires can also be made manifest (at least to a certain extent), though this tends to cause a greater shifting of energies.

The Universe will, in turn, seek to re-balance these energies, which produces Karma or the Law of Return.  Simple spells use less energy, causing less shifting, and thus less return--generally about Threefold.  Greater energies causing greater unbalance can bring greater return; sometimes as much as Tenfold.

If the energy sent Out is beneficial, it can bring beneficial results.  If harmful, then harmful results will follow.

These are only a few of the most basic principles of magickal theory, but I sincerely hope they are of some help.  Perhaps soon I will write more if this is well received.
