THE BIG BANG AND THE MATRIX THEORY
Last week (21.11.04) the Astronomer Royal Sir Martin Rees, issued a somewhat radical but not unheard of point of view. However unlike most matrix theories this one basis itself on the Big Bang and before.
His suggestions is that our Universe may be a type of simulation, which may have been developed or instigated by some advanced alien race. This theory has similarities with the Matrix films, but not entirely the same context.
This new theory has brought our attention back to the real and most important of all questions concerning space and the Universe, which is: Where has our Universe actually come from? Astronomer Rees believes that before The Big Bang there was some form of intelligent life which performed, what we would call computer programming. This programmer then created the Big Bang and all that has followed. He also believes that there are many Universes out there, and that each one may have its own type of time and space, which could allow it to co-exist at the same time as our own. In other words they have their own space, time continuum, which may or maynot be similar to our own.
Many cosmologists though base their belief on the fact that before the Big Bang the Universe was small, hot and dense, and it was these conditions which brought about a large explosion, our Big Bang. They say that this is confirmed by evidence in space and experiments which they have done. However it really does not explain what actually came before this, and leaves it to speculation, as their own theories and experiments only explain the Big Bang in itself.
It was a Canadian cosmologist who came up with the idea that these Big Bangs are caused by black holes in other Universes, which in turn then create another, and so on and so on. Rees also backs this theory with its idea of infinite Universes, which then gives rise to the possibility that life was not a chance event but inevitable.
This is a very interesting area of study as it brings questions like: Was it God/Goddess? Was it aliens? Was it luck? etc. These in turn bring about other questions like: Do the world's governments know? Are we real? and so forth.
I myself and probably most people have their own ideas of what happened to create life and the cause of the Big Bang, so it is not my place to force my own explanation. However I will say that I personally believe that with evidence from various areas of history and mathematics, that the Big Bang and the Universe cannot have been by chance. I will not explain though whether I believe it was aliens or a God/Goddess as this is not the real question at this moment in time. The question which we all have to find the answer to: Is what the correct truth is about this?, and to try and solve it in a united way rather than individually.
It seems that this is probably an unsolvable enigma, but we can but try.
