IMPERIAL BEACH - NAVAL RADIO RADAR STATION - San Diego - USA
1988 or 89

TYPE: USO

FULL NAME: David Hurst

OCCUPATION: Radio Frequency Technician

E-MAIL: Kept Confidential by ORRAR

COUNTRY: United States

DATE OF BIRTH: May 01st 1969

DESCRIPTION OF EVENT:

Time: ap. 1 - 2 am 1988-9ap.
Place: app. 100 hundred yards south of jetty. App. 1 mile north of Imperial Beach pier San Diego, CA.

Encounter: Walking north of Imperial Beach pier with young lady friend. I noticed 2 yellow lights above the naval radar / radio station. They were 100-200 ft. above the three fences that encircle a small naval block house. The two lights passed over the naval station moving from the west to east. It passed over head close enough for me to throw a rock up and hit it. I DID NOT DO THAT.

It did not make a single sound that I could hear and was moving app. 10 - 40 miles per hour. It was hard to judge the speed because it was so large and totally silent. I was stunned with disbelief and a little affraid at the time. I believe Gina was as well. The south yellow light was moving ruler straight from the east to west a dozen yards to the south of Gina and me. The northern light moved in a perfect parallel pattern north to south in a zig zag pattern, app. 100 yard intervals. THE LIGHTS DID NOT BLINK! THEY WERE SOLID YELLOW LIGHTS LIKE STREET LIGHTS! The northern light would move up app. 10ft from the southern light, app 50 - 100 yards north then do a very tight u-turn, within 20ft, and move south toward the southern light in a perfect parallel of its northern straight line and when app. 10ft away from the southern light do another u-turn and move straight north away from us. Repeating over and over and we were standing on the beach between the two lights so I could see that the object was a single object.

The sky was crystal clear and when the object was directly overhead it blocked out the stars and the yellow lights were reflecting on a black structure. As the object passed to the west of us and passed over the pacific ocean the two yellow lights reflected of the ocean like a mirror. As the reflection in the water and the object in the air moved farther west they merged and disappeared app. 1-2 miles out using the rock jetty and ship lights farther out on the ocean as a reference. There was a guard building at the entrance of the Naval Radio / Radar station, but at the time the object passed directly overhead of the guard station I did not see a guard and the guard house was well lighted by street lamps placed at the entrance to the station.

In 1988-89 I did not know about USO's so I assumed that the object was a UFO. For years I questioned how an object that large could fly over the city of Chula Vista, and the San Diego Naval Base and not be seen by anyone. I listened to the radio and watched TV the following days and weeks and heard nothing about this strange thing that Gina and I witnessed. A few weeks ago a USO doc. was on the history channel and I was taken aback by a witness to a USO he saw on an LA pier. The animation of 3 yellow lights under water looked a little like what we saw in Imperial Beach only app. 90 miles south of his sighting. There is also the fact that he saw his objects around 1992 only 3-4 years after our encounter in Imperial Beach. My theory is that the object Gina and I saw could have entered San Diego bay under the Coronado Bridge and under water. It could have then propelled itself passed the nuclear submarines, nuclear aircraft carriers, cruisers, destroyers, firgates and other naval ships berthed in the San Diego bay. At the southern end of the bay there used to be marsh land when I lived there and not very populated. I believe the craft then exited the bay flew over the marsh land and the naval station which did not seem to be very populated and passed over our heads not making a sound. That could be why nobody that I know of, saw what we saw that night.

Our sighting lasted maybe 5 minutes. This is just a theory and I do not have any proof that the object entered the bay under water. It could have come from the sky. I don't know. What I do know is it did enter the water of the coast of Imperial Beach and the sighting off a pier in L.A. of zig zagging yellow lights only three or four years after our sighting tells me there is something in the water of the coast of Southern California.
