Maimonides 13 Principles

1.   God Exists.

2.   He is one in a unique and perfect sense.

3.   He is immaterial and not to be compared to anything else.

4.   He is eternal.

5.   Prayer must be addressed to him alone.

6.   God revealed himself to the prophets.

7.   The prophecy of Moses is unique and superior to everything else.

8.   Through Moses God gave the Jews the Torah.

9.  God will never change or revoke the Torah.

10.   God’s providence observes people’s outer and inner actions.

11.   People are rewarded or punished as they deserve.

12.   The Messiah will come, even if he is delayed.

13.  The dead are resurrected.

 

Maimonides wrote various works to try and bring religion and philosophy back to the beginning, where it was united.  Many believe he was the greatest Jewish teacher to have lived.
