On Being a Vampyre or Gothic

Some of you are probably wondering what is all of the hype on Vampyrism. Why is it that so many Vampyres and Gothics are coming out of the closet? What is it like being who we are? Do we not worry about Vampyre Hunters and deadly blood born diseases? You may find yourself asking this and many more questions. So in the time I have I will write a little about it. I am a 34-year-old Gothic Vampyre. I did not become awakening until late when memories started surfacing. I had never tasted blood until almost 3 years ago. I had watched the occasional Vampyre movie and certainly was intrigued but not to where I thought I possibly could be one. I did know that I always preferred black but just thought that was due to my spiritual beliefs. It was only when I got with my husband that the idea of being one ever crossed my mind. After allowing me to drink some of his blood {Yes, my husband is also Vampyre} one night that is when I realized the changes going through me. I found the sun burned my eyes. So when I went out I had to wear sunglasses. The craving hit me just as hard. Then there were the thoughts of things I wanted to do when I saw a female walking down the street. I thought about grabbing her by the head and draining her. I did not act upon this because we have laws that govern us. However, one must realize that whether we act or not we were meant to hunt and the blood calls to us. That was almost 3 years ago and it does not get any easier. I have found myself angry with those who ask to be turned. I find that a lot of them is teenagers and does not understand what one goes through on a daily basis. They think it is cool. How can it be cool to go months without feeding? Or losing family and friends who thing that you are evil? The life of a Vampyre is a lonely solitude existence with only yourself to keep you company. A lot of us are starting to come out of the closet. Even doing documentaries on TV or starring in movies. There are those of our own kind who believe that we should stay silent. I do not support this view. I feel staying in the silence only keeps people in fear of us. Ignorance breeds fear. Only with giving the facts can we ever expect to live with other kinds. Currently my husband and me are working on getting our House established again. The House of the Dragon is what it is known as. We are not affiliated with any particular organization. Although we respect them and their beliefs. The Gothic lifestyle is no more easier then the Vampyre one. Usually one is both although this is not always the case. Do not presume everyone that is Gothic is also Vampyre because they are not. Gothics tend to like Medieval and Victorian style clothes. Classical and Medieval type music. Cathedrals and Cemeteries also play a part. People often mistake the idea that because Gothics talk about death and other morbid things that we want to murder people and commit suicide. This is not true Goth. Goths enjoy life but also embrace the concept of death. In other words they do not fear it. They usually are into the Paranormal such as myself. I run an organization out of Houston called the Houston Paranormal Society. Another thing most Goths and Vampyres are into is the BDSM lifestyle. I think a lot of the reasons why is because being who and what we are which I described earlier. We are Hunters by nature. So therefore it gives us an outlet to do our fantasies in what is known as the S.S.C creed of the lifestyle. It stands for Safe, Sane and Consentual. It keeps us within the legal limits and still gives us some freedom to explore that side of ourselves. In all of these scenarios one must know that this does not make us a freak or mentally ill. As far as worrying about Vampyre Hunters and blood born disease of course we worry about it. However, one cannot live their life in an hourglass worrying about something they may or may not happen. First, the law is there to protect us as well. No one has the right to harass you for being different. If someone threatens or does anything physical against you call the police that is what they are there for. Do not let yourself be intimidated from making that phone call. If the police try to give you the run around politely explain that you know your rights and you will be back in touch with them via a lawyer. Make notes of any conversations that was said between you and of the persons involved. Make sure you do it the same night to avoid forgetting anything important which could be used against you later. If anything was written anywhere on your property or you have physical marks either take pictures or see a doctor, preferably both. Do not try removing evidence. If the police are called on you and you have not done anything wrong. Make sure that A) They are who they claim to be. Ask to see their Identification and then call the headquarters to verify. B) Remain calm and ask to see a warrant since no one has the right to enter your property without proper paperwork. Believe me I learned the hard way on this. C) Make sure you get a lawyer. Do not try fighting it yourself if at all possible. Remember the burden of prove is on them to prove you have done anything which is illegal. Drinking blood is not a crime. Keep that in mind. Blood born diseases obviously are always a concern. It should not be taken lightly. Make sure everyone you drink blood from or have any form of sex is tested for diseases. Also learn the signs and symptoms that they may be infected. Do not risk your life on a few minutes pleasure it is not worth it. If we do not act responsible how can we expect anyone else to take us seriously? I hope that I have answered some of your questions and that you will enjoy my article. If you do have any more questions just email me.
