MORRIGAN

Morrigan - Celtic Goddess. The also Morrigu, Morrigan, A war goddess, forerunner of the Arthurian Morgan La Fey.  Like Odin fickle and unfaithful and not to be trusted. A hag with a demonic laugh.  The Morrigan appears as a grotesque apparition to man about to die in a battle.  Her name is also used for a triad of war goddesses, who are often thought of as different aspects of the Morrigan; supreme war goddess.  She is queen of phantoms and demons, patroness of priestesses and witches.

Morrigan was one of the greatest "negative" archetypal mother goddess of the Irish Celtic.  She is a goddess of war, death, prophecy and passionate love.

Together with Badb and Macha, she built a triad of three warlike goddesses.

The Morrigu is prophetess of all misfortune in battle and has knowledge of the fate of humanity.  She is also the messenger of death s the dark lady/washer at the ford: Morrigan is seen washing bloody laundry prior to battle by those destined to die.

Her personality is associated with sometimes frightening aspects of female energy.

As a protectress she empowers an individual to confront challenges with great personal strength, even against seemingly overwhelming odds.  Roman chroniclers reported that Celts went into battle naked, exposing tattoo's to summon their magical forces.

As a messenger of death, her myth is still alive in the middle ages, and still remains.

Her image representation: "the mare queen" is often shown as a black raven or a hooded crow, which feeds on the killed warriors after battle.  She appears also as a Caillech, one eyed-old woman.  As a shape shifter, she would often appear as a raven or red crow. But sometimes when she’s "hot" and looking for love she is also a very attractive young lady. She can also be very revengeful, when provoked, no man dares to turn her or her love away.
