Crocodile Sighting in Swansea

Wales - April 2008

A dark, rubbish strewn pool in Swansea is the latest area in the Uk to spot what would be termed an out of place creature. (Not native to the country).

A local resident called Steve Jenkins, 38 believes that he recently saw a creature resembling a 3ft crocodile lurking in some of the rubbish within the pool.

Police were called to the pool, which is around 20ft deep. After visiting the site several times, they have not managed to find anything. However, they are not discounting Steve's sighting, and have warned local children to stay away, as an exotic pet may have been discarded there.

Paul Brain a natural history professor from the University of Swansea believes that this may indeed be a discarded exotic pet that may have outgrown its tank.

Reptile expert Gwilym Games of The Centre for Fortean Zoology believes that it may be a Caiman Crocodile. These grow to about 10ft in length. He also believes that the habitat may also be suitable for it to survive, and that it may in fact be in semi hibernation within the mud, till the waters get warmer.

It will be interesting to see if any new sightings are reported over the coming weeks, or if anything is eventually found.

Many strange exotic creatures are becoming more apparent within Britain, whether these are discarded pets, escaped zoo / circus animals or whether these really are well hidden native species, only time will tell.

If you have had a sighting of this creature or any other strange / weird animal then please let us know.
