CHRISTIAN THOUGHTS

 

Dear Group,

Your gracious founder R. Worrall has kindly invited me to post an article here, knowing full well that I am a Christian. Uh, oh, there’s that four letter word in most of y’all’s vocabulary! Well, don’t worry; I’m not about to preach to you on a single thing. I shared with your founder that I am usually a live and let live person.

Instead I want to share with you about relationships and what it means to me to have that warm personal intimacy with the God of “my” universe.

Most people who try to claim to be Christian never even scratch the surface past the basic “I’m saved, my sins are covered by the Blood of Christ” rhetoric and they continue to live their same ole’, same ole’ mundane lives like there is no tomorrow. Hey, that’s fine, whatever makes them happy. Then there are others who go all, operating in the Gifts of the Spirit – big tv or well-known field evangelist – good works – and all that. And that’s fine too!

But in anyone’s busy lives and schedules how often is it that any one of them goes the “stop and smell the (spiritual) roses” route? How often do any one of them, do any one of you, stop and take the time to really get to know the object or personage of your worship? Have you got all caught up on what your being can do for “you” – the power he/she/it can give you and the things “you” can achieve thereby?

Have you ever just stopped and spent an hour or a whole day just getting quiet and “still” in your spirit to where you could hear the literal “inner” proverbial pin drop?

I’m not talking about transcendental meditation, mantras, out of body experiences, spells, or whatnot. I’m talking about a personal one on one communion with the god of your choice – that relationship that goes deep into the very core of your being and fulfills your every real heart needs not just the surfaces wants and lusts!

Yeah, yeah, the “power’s” a really neat head trip, and you get to have “control” over lots of stuff in a whole range of religions, but I’m talking about the supernatural being who can calm the troubled soul and can fill you with a continual never-ending peace beyond understanding, who makes no demands on your whatsoever – no prices that must be paid to achieve said power – no consequences for having chosen to reject this deity who will still love you no matter what!

You try that with most of the powers that be out there and half of them threaten all sorts of dire happenings if you ever decide to choose to leave them! Some beings just have to operate through fear and terror or you can have the pot at the end of the rainbow NOW, but payback time at the end of this mortal life’s a bitch!

And yeah, there are lovey, all hearts and flowers, hug a tree beings out there too, if that’s your cup of tea, But I’m talking about a deep relationship that ministers to you on every level of your own being – a quiet stillness of heart, a depth of communion achievable without ancient or present drugs, without chants and stones, without any spiritual or natural aid whatsoever at all!

Just a willingness to take a different being for a test drive now and then and not base our choices on the way we see other humans supposedly living out His grand plan when it’s so obvious that they are such hypocrites and arrogant snobby folk themselves. Believe me, I’ve run into enough idiots like that in my own belief system that if I weren’t on such solid ground to begin with myself, these types would have made me turn cold shoulder forever from the God they were professing to represent. Brrr! (shudder! Shudder!) So I know exactly how some of you might have felt. Those dorks!

So go ahead and put whomever sparks your interest through the spiritual wringer for yourselves to see what He’s really made of and compare Him to yours on a really heart seeking serous level – go right ahead and test Him good and see what comes out the other side.

I’d been trying to explain to my own pastor why I’d been church hopping for years, always after this and that elusive something that the buildings, the doctrines, and the different denominations will always fail you to give you. It’s just that the belief systems, ANY belief system in and of itself will never satisfy that hunger of the soul.

And before you go: “Well dear, have I got just the belief system or deity for you”, let me tell you that one day I finally discovered for myself the One that was needful for me to follow, heart, body, and soul – my other half – the completion and fulfillment of my spiritual being, - He who was just right for me!

Whether He’s “just right” for anyone else here remains to be seen, that’s up to you. His Will has always been and always shall be: the “choice” is yours to make. It’s all up to “you” in the long run.

All I know is that I HAVE what “I” need: that stillness of heart, mind, and soul, that completeness of being, that unconditional acceptance in the Beloved by Him alone if by no one else in the entire universe, a depth of communion and intimacy far beyond, yet including and enhancing in the whole all physical interactions in life possible.

When I get to that quiet place in Him …. well, I slept on this and I still can’t come up with the words to describe what’s it like when HE talks to you One on one, the Spirit soul mingling and interaction that takes place of no just being “in” but getting to partake “of” His Presence ……

Yeah, I know, many religions claim to offer such relationship and some seem to actually do so, but I wouldn’t trade places with anyone for all the tea in China!

So whichever deity it is that you “choose” to go with, make sure it’s one that you can lean on in the hard times, that you can cry on their shoulder when all the world seems against you, that you can tell your innermost secrets and dreams to, whose word will never fail you and whose promises will always be kept – who will move heaven and earth to come to the rescue of His little ones and deliver out of all harm’s way. Who will always be proud of you and encourage you when men fail and betray you as they will. Who will always love you no matter what you may or may not do in life! You can reject Him a thousand times over and He will still be there ready and waiting to forgive you each and every time, He will still be there waiting ….. always waiting …..

His door is always open, His Light is always on the window sill waiting …..

….. and my email door will always be open too, because I know His Love without a shadow of a doubt, as I came to know the Man first, in spite of all the ridiculous and pathetic doctrines the majority of humankind screams He espouses. Uh, uh, get to really know whomever it is that you would serve firsthand for yourselves across the board and then come tell me about it – no arguments, no long drawn out “proofs” or lists of belief statements, no debunking of this one’s traditions or that one’s name really means so and so. No when you are ready for some good friendship and mutual respect sharing of that which you have personally experienced first hand for yourselves in the depths of your own soul, then I’ll be here ready to truly listen with an open mind.

I am also available to share from my own experiences as well, for anyone who has genuine questions. I cant speak for the other idiots you may have met in the past claiming to know Christ, I only know what and in WHOM I believer for myself. Come taste and see if it’s good for you. It’s definitely been good for me!
